The Museum of Arts of the University of Guadalajara: A space of cultural and academic convergence

Abstract

The Museum of Arts of the University of Guadalajara known as (MUSA) is an institution dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of works of contemporary art. This museum is in the downtown area of ​​the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Which is recognized for its extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, which includes paintings, sculptures, photographs, and audiovisual works. Furthermore, the institution stands out for its commitment to the dissemination of culture and the promotion of artistic education. It has become a reference in the cultural field of the central western region, attracting national and international visitors. The objective of this research is to understand how the museum contributes to the development and promotion of art and culture, as well as to identify the challenges and opportunities it faces to propose strategies that strengthen its work and positioning in the museum and educational context. Approached through a qualitative interpretive methodology using the semi-structured interview technique directed at the museum's academic coordinator, as well as documentary analysis and guided tours of the premises. Among the main findings we have that the MUSA is a cultural and educational reference in the region. Its extensive collection of contemporary art, its temporary exhibitions and its commitment to research and artistic education make it an invaluable space for the dissemination and study of art.
