Entrepreneurship as a supportive element in higher-level tutorial practice

Abstract

Currently, due to the national economic context, the establishment of an entrepreneurial mindset has been promoted right from the classroom. As a result, Institutions of Higher Education have a current interest in fostering the creation of new businesses among their students, creating an entrepreneurial environment that stimulates the entrepreneurial attitude within their student community. Specifically, the Institutional Program of Academic Tutoring was formally conceived at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México starting in 2004, where the role of a tutor accompanying the student throughout their educational journey was envisioned, spanning from high school to Higher Education. This was the turning point where the significance of tutoring was recognized in the academic and personal life of the student. The intention was to decisively influence the holistic development of the student, as apart from disciplinary academic support, tutoring also serves a formative function. Particularly in this paper, the importance of entrepreneurship is highlighted as a complementary element in the tutoring practice. This ensures that the student being tutored maintains interest in the program while simultaneously benefiting from the guidance aimed at the creation of new businesses that, in turn, contribute to the country's development.
